Hold Wife, 15, in Killing Sister, 6
ROCKVILLE, Md. (AP) --- A six-year old girl was strangled with a dish towel and police announced they were questioning her 15-year old married stepsister.
Katherine Nadine Bannister was found by police with a dish towel looped around her neck and tied to a door know in an upstairs bedroom of her home here.
Police said a person who identified herself as the stepsister, Mrs. Marion Mosley, called the Rockville station and told dispatcher F. S. Moxley, "my sister has been choked to death and I know who did it."
Police said Moxley asked who did it and the caller replied, "I did it with a towel." Moxley then asked why. According to investigators, the caller replied, " I hated her."
Police said the teenager later told them the strangling took place after she had an argument with her stepmother, Mrs. William Bannister.
No details of what they argued about or what connection, if any, the argument had with the strangling were immediately available.
Mrs. Bannister told police she first learned of the tragedy in her home when squad cars and rescue squad vehicles rolled up to the door.
She said there was nothing wrong in her house, officers reported, but that she would help them find the house they were looking for.
At that point, police said, the Mosley girl came forward and told them they were at the right house.
Police and rescue squad crews raced inside, found Katherine, removed the towel, and administered artificial respiration and oxygen. The child was pronounced dead by Dr. Frank J. Broschart, county medical examiner.
Police said the dead girl had one of her stepsister's party dresses drown over her own clothes.
