W.H.F. Rhyne was born in Alabama and moved to Waldron, Ark. at a very young age. He was the eldest son of Eli Hoyle and Amanda Henry-Rhyne's six children. At the age of 14 he lost his father and the family moved to Summerville, GA where within a year their mother passed. Living adjacent to his Uncles' farm, William Henry maintained a home and became responsible for rearing his younger siblings. During the growing season he farmed and studied at Vanderbilt Medical School the winter months. After graduating in 1891 he began praticing medicine out of an office located on his farm in the Valley Store Community, Southwest of LaFayette, GA. Dr. Rhyne married Miss Vinnie Hawkings on 11 Dec 1892 and reared six children. In 1905, the Rhyne family moved to LaFayette, GA where generations of their offspring continue to live.
