George Edward Carmichael, 73, 2810 S. Walnut St., long-time employee of Meeks Mortuary, died Sunday morning at Ball Memorial Hospital following an illness of several weeks. Mr. Carmichael was employed at Meeks Mortuary more than 50 years and earlier had worked for Hartley Brothers Bus Lines and Taxi Service.
Surviving are a daughter, Ann Sorenson, and two sisters, Mrs. Nellie Rhoads and Mrs. Jesse (Edith) Ward, and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held in Meeks Mortuary at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday with Robert M. Jones officiating. Interment will follow in Beech Grove Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary from 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, and any time before the services Tuesday.
