Graveside service for Alice Adele Fisher Mathews Askew, 89, of San Augustine will be at 10 a.m. today at Liberty Hill Memorial Garden with the Rev. Skipper Eberlan officiating. Mrs. Askew died July 18, 2006, in Lufkin, Texas. Born July 2, 1917, in Cameron, Texas, she was the daughter of Thomas Champion Fisher and Ella Harris. She was a homemaker. Survivors include her husband, Fred Askew of San Augustine; daughters, Victoria Mathews Burks and husband, Mike, of Tyler, Frankie Mathews Sitton and husband, Don, of Nacogdoches and Windy Mathews Raynolds and husband, Ed, of San Augustine; stepdaughters, Jeannene Askew and husband, Tom, of Shelbyville, Betty Mathews Beard and husband, Tony, of Rialto, California, and Jeanette Mathews Blackmon of Henderson, Nevada; stepson, John T. Mathews and wife, Debbie, of Utah; grandchildren, Bonnie Miller and husband, J.D., Tammy Jordan, Alice Bennefield and husband, Wesley, Garth Sitton, Grant Sitton and wife, Leslie, and Lee Welch and husband, David; great-grandchildren, Robert Jordan Jr., Daphne Runnels, Macy Reynolds, Barrett Bennefield and Samantha McGee; and many beloved nieces and nephews.
