Robert Fox, the youngest child of Nell Fern Boykin and Earl Marion Fox, was born in Kaufman County, Texas. Joining the Armed Services, he went missing while serving with the 44th Fighter Squadron, 18th Fighter Group. He was the recipient of the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal. His name is also inscribed on the Tablets of the Missing at the American Cemetery in Manila.

He was survived by his parents, an older brother Edward (who went missing in action in March 1944), and his sister Nell Virginia Fox Johnson.
