Putnam County Courier, Carmel, N.Y., Friday, May 25, 1923:
Mrs. L. Starr Barnum- Friends were grieved to learn of the death of Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Barnum, wife of L. Starr Barnum, at her home in Danbury (Connecticut) on Sunday (May 20). Mrs. Barnum was in her sixty-third year and was born in Southeast, New York. She had long been a member of the Brewster Presbyterian church and always an active member until a few years ago when she moved to Danbury. Mrs. Barnum is survived by her husband and one daughter, Mrs. Fred Storm; two sons, George, of Danbury, and Warren, of New York. The funeral services were held at the late home on Tuesday at 2 o'clock. Interment was in Milltown Rural Cemetery.
