Rex C. Cantrell, 71, died at the Texas Medical Center Hospice on November 1, 1997 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born December 24, 1925 in Alvarado, TX. He is survived by his sister, Winnell Simmons, a nephew, 2 nieces, and three grand nieces and nephews.

Rex was a Lt. in the US Navy from 1943 to 1946. He received his BSEE degree from the University of Texas in 1947 and joined Schlumberger the same year. He worked in many Schlumberger locations; Wharton, Russell, Liberal, Liberty, Sacramento, Havana and New Orleans. In 1961, he came to Houston in the Operations Department. He was Manager of Customer Acceptance when he retired.

A Memorial Service will be held at Central Presbyterian Church, 3788 Richmond Avenue, on Saturday, November 15, 1997, at 11:00 o'clock. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Texas Medical Center Hospice, 1905 Holcombe Blvd, Houston, TX, 77030. The Settegast-Kopf Company, 3320 Kirby Dr., 713-528-2411.
