REV. JACK VINES

ALLEN — Services for the Rev. Jack Ray Vines, 83, Allen, are 12 noon Monday at Criswell Funeral Home Chapel, the Rev. Bill Frazier will officiate. Burial will follow at High Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Vines died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2008, at a local hospital. He was born Nov. 11, 1924, at Tuskahoma to Mack and Hazel Hunt Vines.

He attended Bilby-Spaulding schools and graduated from Spaulding High School.

He married Lorene Daniels July 3, 1946.

He served as Court Clerk in Hughes County for 13 years. Mr. Vines and his family moved to this area in 1973 from Holdenville. He pastored Baptist churches in this area for more than 50 years including Lamar, Carson, and at High Hill Baptist Church for 26 years. He also was a store room clerk at Valley View Regional Hospital for 20 years. Mr. Vines was a Baptist and had served in the U.S. Navy during World War
II.

Survivors include his wife, Lorene Daniels, of the home; two sons, Robert Vines, of the home, and Jack Wayne Vines and wife Linda, Ada; one daughter, Ruth Davenport and husband Gene, Inola; three brothers, Bill Vines, Holdenville, Fred Vines, Shawnee, and Henry Vines, Spaulding; one sister, Ellen Westmoreland, Idaho; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two sons, David Lynn Vines in 2000, and an infant, Jerry Vines.

Bearers will be Terry Stick, Solomon Gantt, Ron Brashier, Carlin Thompson, Mike Beller, Brian Davenport, Ryan Davenport and Jackson Puller Jr. Honorary bearers are Stephen Vines, Mark Vines and Nathan Davenport.
