Charles W. Raynor, Jr., 86 of Lanexa was carried away by the angels to be with his Lord and Savior on August 1, 2009. He passed away at home with his loving family. Charles will always be best known by family and friends for his love of boats and the water. Born in Newport News, he moved to Lancaster County where he met the love of his life, Alma. In the early 1950's they moved to Hampton.
Mr. Raynor retired from C&O Railroad Marine Department in 1973. He owned and operated Raynor's Home Improvement and also owned and operated Bears General Hauling with his son, Andrew (Bear).He was preceded in death by his parents Charles and Sarah Raynor; wife, Alma Raynor; three sons, Charles, William and Dennis Raynor; and granddaughter, Christie Raynor.
Surviving are a son, Andrew Raynor of Lanexa; a daughter, Jane Manning of Lancaster; granddaughters raised as daughters, Mary Barden, Janie Rose and Jewell;eight grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday at Currie Funeral Home, Kilmarnock with Rev. Carlton Milstead officiating. Interment Corrottoman Baptist Cemetery, Ottoman.
