THE PARIS NEWS, MONDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2014, PAGE 3 - Gwendolyn Bowen, formerly of Bogata, went to be with her Lord on Friday, Feb. 28, 2014, eight days short of her 101st birthday. She had been a resident of Tulsa, Okla. since 2008. Funeral services are scheduled for 2 p.m. on Wednesday at Bogata Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Billy Daniels officiating. Burial will be in Bogata Cemetery under the direction of Wood Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. on Wednesday at the church.

Mrs. Bowen was born March 8, 1913, in Spring Creek, Texas, the daughter of George Woodard and Sarah Atlas Boone Patton. She married Cecil Bowen on Jan. 30, 1935. He preceded her in death Sept. 24, 1992. She was also preceded in death by two sons, Paul Bowen in 2000 and David Joe Bowen in 2012 and a grandson, Mchael Bowen in 1976.
Until her health failed she was an active member of Bogata Missionary Baptist Church which she loved so dearly.

She is survived by two children, Sandra Brandt and husband, Henry of Tulsa and Jim Bowen and wife, Martha of Seattle,Wash.; two daughters-in-law, Mary Bowen of Tulsa and Kathy Bowen of Gladewater, Texas; 10 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
