My father served in the Army during World War II. from January 6th, 1943 untill June 30th, 1946. His Military Specialty was Auto Mech 014 & his Military Qualifications were Rifle-MKM, He also recieved Infantry Oviation and Markmanship Badage. He served 3 months in Germany from March 23, 1946 untill June 21, 1946. He served as Technician Fifth Grade Company B, 1258th Engineer Combat Battalion. Decorations and Citation's recieved were,
Army Of Occupation Medal Germany, American Theater Service Medal & The Good Conduct Medal.
My father met my Mother while stationed in Baltimore, Maryland. They got married, May 21, 1943 just two weeks after meeting.They had 37 years together and eight children before my dad died.
My father was borned in Elwood, Indiana to Claude James McGinnis & Edna Gazell Stephans Steel. His Eight children were as follows, Three boys, James William McGinnis II., Gary Gene McGinnis & Calvin Richard McGinnis. Five Daughters as follows Genney Lou Hunsberger, Linda Lee Essig, Jacqueline Lynne Artis , Sharon Ann Boesey & Cindy May McGinnis. My Father was a truely Loving Husband and a family man. He loved the out doors and loved to take his family camping. He enjoyed getting into all the games us kids played. I could not have asked for a better Father. He was a very sincere honest man. I am so proud to be able to call him my Daddy.
