She was born in Windom, Minn., on May 6, 1929, to Harold and Mildred (Haugen) Vought. She lived in Jackson through her preschool years, then moved to Rosemount. Helen graduated from Rosemount High School, then worked for the Minnesota State Licensing Department.
On Feb. 24, 1948, she married Wayne Lucking at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rosemount, and they lived in the community until they moved to Castle Rock 1964. In the summer of 1978, they moved back to Rosemount.
Helen worked as a nurse's assistant at Sanford Memorial Hospital for about 10 years. She was an active member of the Legion of Mary and volunteered many hours at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. She enjoyed gardening and going to garage sales, she was an active reader and seamstress. She loved to dance and occasionally got to do some knitting. Her best times were spent with her children, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold Vought and Mildred Miller, and stepfather Doyle Miller; and brothers Thomas and William Vought.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held May 26, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Rosemount. Interment was at the St. Joseph's cemetery. Arrangements were made by White Funeral Home of Lakeville.
