Howard Wayne "Mac" McDorman, 79, died Wednesday, December 22, 2010, at a local medical center.

A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 27, 2010, in Elliott-Hamil Garden of Memories Cemetery, directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 5701 Highway 277 South. A viewing will be 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Howard was born January 19, 1931 to Wilma Ester (Childers) and John Howard McDorman in Moro, Texas. He served his country in the United States Army National Guard for 30 years. Howard moved to Abilene in 1967. He was employed as a cook at the Lamp Lighter Restaurant for 10 years. Howard coached Pee Wee Baseball and was an assistant coach in 1967, 1968, and 1969 in the Little League. He was a Baptist.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Royce McDorman; and a sister, Connie Key.

Survivors include his fiancé, Norma Newsom of Abilene; a son, Kennon Wayne McDorman of Abilene; two daughters, Kathryn Anders and husband, David, of Abilene and Kimberly Bradshaw and husband, Kevin, of Abilene; three brothers, Don McDorman of Sweetwater, Texas, Jerry McDorman and Delmer McDorman, both of Brownwood, Texas; a sister, Sherry Fanelli of Fort Worth, Texas; four grandchildren, Melanie, Dustyn, Kaylee, and K.J.; and two great-grandchildren.
