Services Monday
Mrs. R. V. Hart, 79, long-time resident of Big Spring, died Friday at 8:10 p.m. in the Golden Holiday Nursing Home in Baird, where she had been a resident for the past several years.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday in the Nalley-Pickle Rosewood chapel, with burial in City Cemetery. Rev. Robert F. Polk of the First Baptist Church will officiate.
Pallbearers will be Howard D. Lowe, Tom Ivey, H. W. McCanless, Weldon Bryant, Zollie M. Boykin and Joe Pickle.
Mrs. Hart was born Chellie Mae Haley in Prattsville, Ark., April 20, 1888, and she moved to Texas in 1896. She was married Dec. 29, 1907 to Roch V. Hart at Cross Plains, and they moved to Baird two years later when he went with the Texas & Pacific railroad. In 1912 they came to Big Spring, living here until 1916, and returning then to Baird before coming back here in 1929. Mr. Hart, a locomotive engineer, died June 28, 1936.
Mrs. Hart had been a Baptist since childhood, and was a member of the First Baptist Church here. Until health precluded it, she was an extremely active member, especially in the Women's Missionary Union. She had been in steadily failing health for the past five years.
Surviving are one son, Kenneth Hart, Big Spring; two sisters, Mrs. W. L. Ray, Baird, and Mrs. Bernice Drake, Midland; one brother, Errol Haley, Big Spring.
