Norman Albert was appointed to the Dayton Fire Department on October 1, 1942. He received his promotion to Lieutenant on May 10, 1950 and promoted to Captain on August 9, 1954. He left briefly for military service with the Army on February 8, 1943 and was restored back to duty on October 17, 1945.

Although his crew tried to save him, he was pronounced dead on arrival at Good Samaritan hospital from an apparent heart attack. He was 46 years old.
