SARAH PEARL TRENT WAS THE DAUGHTER OF ALEXANDER CAMPBELL AND SARAH ELIZABETH HOGG TRENT. SHE MARRIED THREE TIMES: (1) SHE MARRIED JOHN P SASSER ON 6 MAR 1912 IN WHEELER COUNTY, OREGON. GOD BLESSED THIS MARRIAGE WITH ONE CHILD - MERLYN DALE. (2) SHE MARRIED LOUIS STRODE ABOUT 1925. (3) SHE MARRIED HERBERT HARRY HOLZAPFEL ABOUT 1940.

THE DALLES – Sarah Pearl Holzapfel passed away at The Dalles December 13th, a resident of The Dalles for 48 years, age 73. Mother of Merlyn Sasser, The Dalles, stepmother of Jerald Holzapfel, Willows, Calif. And Gail Holzapfel of Rufus; sister of Mrs. Alice Strode, Stockton, Calif., Wayne and Dorris Trent of Bend; grandmother of Hazlyn and Douglas Sasser, The Dalles,and Mrs. Donna Hinds of Portland; also survived by 4 step grandchildren and 2 step great-grandchildren. She was a member of the First Christian Church. Funeral services 11:00 A.M. Tuesday at Smith Callaway Chapel, Rev. Edwin Zimbelman will officiate and vault interment will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery. Casket bearers will include John Patterson, O. V. Jarvis, Jack Dyball, A. C. Zebner, Dale Specht and DeLayne Richmond.

SARAH PEARL HOLZAPFEL RITES SCHEDULED HERE ON TUESDAY

Funeral for Sarah Pearl Holzapfel, 73, a resident here for 48 years will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Smith Callaway Chapel with the Rev. Edwin Zimbelman in charge and burial at the Odd Fellows Cemetery.

Mrs. Holzapfel died suddenly at her home at 1531 E. 12th Street on Saturday. She was born May 21, 1896, at Mitchell; the daughter of Alexander and Sarah Trent, pioneers of that community.

For 25 years, Mrs. Holzapfel was an employee here of the J. C. Penney Co. store, and then returned to the store during the WWII period to help out part-time.

Surviving are a son, Merlyn D. Sasser, The Dalles; two stepsons, Jerald and Gail Holzapfel of Willows and Rufus, Calif.; a sister, Mrs. Alice Strode of Stockton, Calif., two brothers, Wayne and Dorris Trent of Bend; three grandchildren, Hazlyn and Douglas Sasser of The Dalles and Mrs. Donna Hinds of Portland; four step grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

Casket bearers will be John Patterson, O. V. Jarvis, Jack Dyball, A. C. Zebner, Dale Specht and DeLayne Richmond.
