Lawrence H. Hilliard, 21, of Norlina was killed in a single-vehicle accident near the Tar River bridge on the Henderson-Raleigh highway. Charlie L. Wiggins of Norlina was also killed in the accident. Both men were employed by the Seaboard RR. Joint funeral at Norlina Methodist Church, interment in a common grave. Survivors include:
