Winfrey W. Maddox

Winfrey W. Maddox of 601 N. Somerville died in Highland General Hospital at 6pm Sunday after a year's illness. He was born Apr 16, 1878, in St. Clair County, MO and moved to the Hay Hook Ranch north of Pampa as foreman in 1926 from Blaine, Colo. He was ranch foreman for the 51 sections for 38 years. In 1962 he retired and moved to Pampa.
He was married to Millie Huff at Sapulpa, OK, Aug 16, 1904. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary Aug 16, 1954.
Survivors are his wife, one son, Earl Maddox, Pampa, two grandsons; one brother, R. E. Maddox, Pampa; one sister, Mrs. Mattie McClain, Albuquerque, NM; one half brother, C. M. Maddox, Naturita, Colo.; one half sister, Mrs. Julia Eldridge, Durango; and eight great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 4pm Tuesday in Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel, Rev. Gene Seagroves, pastor of Highland Christian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Carl Deckman, Bill Langley, Earl Rice, Jr., L. O. Tucker, Earl Tennant, Dane Cambern, Hal Brown and Frank Roach.
Honorary pallbearers will be Glenn Tennant, Guy Andis, Clayton Mathis, Frank M. Carter, C. A. Gatlin, John Simms, Rob Harlan, Ernie Jones, Joe Looper, Tom Braly, Jake Osborn, Rip Barrett, and Bruce Head.
