A funeral Mass will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, June 7, 1998, in St. Mary Magdalene Catholic Church for Josephine Elizabeth Pitcher, who died May 30 at age 86. A rosary will be at 6:15 p.m. Saturday in the church.
Mrs. Pitcher was born July 28, 1911, in Sandpoint, Idaho, and moved to Portland as a child. Her maiden name was Stariha. She attended Grant High School and moved to Seattle as a young woman. She returned to Portland in 1965. She was a homemaker and had been a part-time cafeteria worker for Portland State University in the 1970s. Mrs. Pitcher was a member of the church. In 1935, she married Fred L.; he died in 1961.
Survivors include her daughters, Joan Charlotte Skalabrin, and Barbara Sue Penniston; son, John M., and brother, Charles Stariha; 13 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Interment will be in Holyrood Cemetery in Seattle.
