BOONEVILLE - John R. Sanders, 90, died Monday, June 4, 2001, at the Longwood Community Living Center in Booneville after a long illness. He was a retired employee of General Motors in Elyria, Ohio, and a member of the Church of Christ.

Services will be at 2 p.m. today at McMillan Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Ward Hogland and Gary Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Booneville Cemetery.

Survivors include four daughters, Martha and Clyde Hopkins, and Shirley and Bobby Johnson, all of Booneville, Mary and Tom White of Lorain, Ohio, and Sue and Don Fortner of Amherst, Ohio; two stepdaughters, Dorothy and Earl Owens of Booneville, and Doris Hanson of Melissa, Texas; four sons, Roger and Ophelia Sanders, Tom and Sandra Sanders, and James Sanders, all of Booneville, and Joe and Georgia Sanders of Shepherd, Texas; one brother, Joe Sanders of Senatobia; 24 grandchildren and step grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mattie Floyd Sanders; his second wife, Odie Smithey Sanders; his parents, Harris and Luna Sanders; two sisters, Lois Taylor and Rachel Allen; a brother, David Sanders; a grandson, Todd Johnson; and a step grandson, Tim Sappington.

Visitation will continue until service time today.
