Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Delta Funeral Home Chapel with Jake Vaughn officiating. Interment was made in the Charleston Cemetery under the direction of Delta Funeral Home.
She was born in Hopkins County, Dec. 10, 1913. She was the daughter of Lawrence Cates and Ollie Dawson Cates. She had lived in Delta County most all of her life and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Cooper. She was a retired cafeteria employee with Cooper Independent School District.
She married Thomas Junior Watkins on Feb. 11, 1930. He preceded her in death May 4, 1982. She was also preceded in death by a son, Lloyd Junior Watkins; her parents; seven sisters; and one brother.
Survivors include a son, Don Watkins of Jackson, Ga.; daughters, Donna Gonzales of Forney and Darlene Parsons of Powderly; seven grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
