Alva D. Carroll Resident of Beaumont 50 Years. Beaumont, Jan 5--Funeral services for Alva D. Carroll, 77, Beaumont resident for more than 50 years and a lifelong campaigner against the liquor traffic, were held today at the residence of a sister, Mrs. H.C. Smythe, here. Mr. Carroll, who died Friday at a hospital, for many years was connected with the lumber and sawmill industry. He retired about 20 years ago. He was a charter member of the United Friends of Temperance. Survivors include his wife, Mrs. Ella Carroll; a son, A. Dee Carroll of Beaumont; a brother, W.C. Carroll of Dallas; and two sisters, Mrs. Smythe and Mrs. John C. Ward, also of Beaumont.
