He was born Joseph W. Overturf before 1910 when his age is given as 1 on the 1910 census. On the 1920 and 1930 census he gives 1909 as the date.
He was married in 1930 while living in Los Angeles and in 1931 he was arrested, spending time in San Quentin.
I found his death notice in the Great Falls Tribune on 7 Sep 1937 stating he died at the Labor Day Rodeo in Custer as the result of being thrown from a bucking horse.
