Dorothy "Dottie" Jane Pyle was the eldest of two daughters born to Pascal Richard Pyle (1895–1943) and Maydalene Marie Cullivan (1895–1985).
She grew up in Lima and Akron, OH. On 21 Aug 1944, she married to Dr. Charles Francis Gregory at Indianapolis, IN. They had two sons:
- Charles "Skip" Bernard Gregory II (b. 1946)
- Michael Mannion Gregory (b.1948)
Her husband was Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Texas Medical School in Dallas during the 1960s. He has become famous by being associated with the President John F. Kennedy assassination. He worked on Governor John Connally's wounds at Parkland Hospital, and later testified against the "Single-Bullet Theory" before the Warren Commission.
