Annie Cochran

Annie Cochran, 105, a longtime Fort Worth resident, died Monday at her home. Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Central Christian Church in Childress, with burial in Childress Cemetery.

Mrs. Cochran, who lived at 1720 Hurley, was born in San Saba, Texas, in 1876. From 1904 until 1944 she lived in Childress with her husband, John W. Cochran, who during those years served as deputy sheriff, sheriff, Democratic co-chairman and commissioner of Childress County.

When women received the vote in 1920, Mrs. Cochran became active in politics. She was also active in the Home Demonstration Club in Childress and was a charter member of Central Christian Church. After her husband's death in 1944, she moved to Fort Worth.

Survivors include three daughters, Anna May Corry, Franes Holden and Eleanor Smith, all of Fort Worth; a sister, Pearl White of Vernon; 11 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great-grandchildren.
