Madeline A. (Speck) Reed, 87, of Saxton, and formerly of Dudley, died May 14, 2005, at the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born Sept. 1, 1917, in Carbon Township, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Hazel (McClain) Speck. She was united in marriage to Warren D. "Homey" Reed, Feb. 7, 1934, in Cumberland, Md. by the Rev. George Baughman. Mr. Reed preceded her in death June 3, 1999. She is survived by son and a daughter, Charles Reed, James Creek; and Bonnie Swab, Kernersville, N.C. She is also survived by two brothers and one sister, Clyde Speck, East Freedom; Ralph Speck, Pioria, Ariz.; and Pearl Russell, James Creek. She was preceded in death by two sons, Devoe and Ronnie Reed; three brothers, Marl, Glen and Robert Speck; and one sister, Mary C. Lytle. Mrs, Reed retired from the Tussey Mountain School District cafeteria in 1979. She was also employed as the postmaster for the United States Postal Service, Dudley.
