William Clyde died due to head trauma in car accident on Hwy. 97 near Lockney. Death cert. shows he died within an hour after the accident on March "13" 1972, 7:10 a.m. He was a postal carrier for U.S. Postal Service and was delivering mail.

CHILDRESS (Staff) - Funeral services for William Clyde Adams, 65, a Childress mail carrier, will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday in the First Baptist Church with burial in the Childress Cemetery directed by the Newberry Funeral Home.

Adams was killed in a one-car accident Monday about five miles east of Lockney.

He was born Apr. 20, 1906, in Hopkins County and married Ethel Chameness [sic] Nov. 18, 1927, in Sulphur Springs.

Survivors include his wife of the home; two sons, Elbert Adams of Maybank and Delbert Adams, currently stationed in Germany with the U.S. Army; five brothers, Johnny Adams of Hobbs, N.M., Thomas Lee Adams of Dallas, Morris Adams of Longview, Milton Adams of Mineola, and Joe Ray Adams of Pittsburg; three sisters, Mrs. Myrtice Zinnerman of Houston, Mrs. Skeen Smith and Miss Pauline Adams, both of Winnsboro; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

CHILDRESS (Special) - Services for William Clyde Adams, 65, who was killed in a one car accident Monday near Lockney, are set for 2 p.m. Thursday in First Baptist Church with the Rev. Joe S. Allen, pastor, officiating.

Burial will be in Childress Cemetery under direction of Newberry Funeral Home.

The accident occurred after Adams, a mail carrier, had made a mail pickup in Lockney and was returning to Childress. He was alone in the automobile.

A native of Hopkins County, Adams moved to Childress from Sulphur Springs in 1932. He previously had been employed by West Texas Utilities, Smith Motor Company and Childress Manufacturing Company.

He had been a mail carrier about three years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Childress.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Delbert of Germany and Elbert of Maybank; five brothers, Johnny of Hobbs, Thomas of Dallas, Morris of Longview, Milton of Mineola and Joe of Pittsburg; three sisters, Mrs. Myrtice Zinnerman of Houston, and Mrs. Skeen Smith and Pauline Adams, both of Winnsboro; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
