Mary Elizabeth Tippins Alexander was a daughter of William Wayne Tippins and Mary Elizabeth Eason.

Paternal Grandparents: Phillip Tippins (c. 1760-1826) & Mary Cecelia Underwood (b. bet 1762-1764; d. 1804). Both were born in North Carolina.

Paternal Great Grandparents: Henry Tippins & Diana Mulkey.

Maternal Grandparents (parents of Mary Elizabeth Eason): William Eason (22 May 1771-22 Oct 1831 born in North Carolina) & Sarah "Sallie" Mattox (03 Dec 1777-16 May 1859). Both are buried in the Mount Carmel Church Cemetery, Reidsville, Tattnall Co., GA; Sect. A as Rev. William Eason and Sarah Mattox Eason, wife of William Eason.

Maternal Great Grandparents: George Eason & Elizabeth Morton.

Note: Sarah Mattox's parents were Michael McKenzie Mattox (1745-1815) and Elizabeth Hartridge Joyce (1755-20 Feb 1817). Michael is buried in the Old Shiloh Cemetery, Reidsville, Tattnall Co., GA; Section E, with a military headstone: SC MILITIA CONTINENTAL LINE REV WAR.

Mary Elizabeth Tippins married Benjamin H. Alexander, on 21 May 1835 in Tattnall Co., GA and had the following children:

1. Luther W. Alexander, b. 13 Jun 1838; d. 28 Aug 1925 in Collins, Tattnall Co., GA (according to his death certificate). However, his headstone records the date 04 Sep 1925. This may have actually been his burial date. He died in Chatham Co., GA. (Death Cert 2363473). Luther was married to Mary A. E. S. Miller, daughter of Sarah Miller; and then married to Cordilia D. (formerly Ellenwood).

2. Josiah Asbury Alexander, b. bet. 1840-1841; d. 03 Mar 1905 in Tattnall Co., GA. The 17 Oct 1850 Census for Tattnall County, GA, placed his age at 10. Josiah was married to Charlotte Elizabeth Brewton (d/o Benjamin Brewton & Charlotte Matilda Bacon) in 1859 and had three children (I do have this info with dates and some burial and spousal information). He then married Caroline Brewton (d/o Samuel J. and Mary Ann "Polly" Smith, in 1875 and had 4 children. I have this information and some spousal and burial information.

3. Allen Alexander, b. 1844 Tattnall Co., GA. In the 05 Aug 1860 Census for Tattnall Co., GA; he is listed as a son, age 18. But in the 17 Oct 1850 census for Tattnall Co., GA, he is listed as age 6. If the age in the 1850 is true, he should be 16 not 18 in 1860.

4. John Alexander, b. 1846, Tattnall Co., GA. In the 17 Oct 1850 Census, he is listed as son, John, age 4.

5. Victoria Alexander, b. 1848 Tattnall Co., GA; d. 16 Feb 1926, Collins, Tattnall Co., GA; buried in the Collins City Cemetery, Collins, Tattnall Co., GA; Sect. C, as Victoria Alexander Cowart, beside Leonard Jackson Cowart. They were married in 1869 and had 9 children. I have all this information, including spousal and burial information on most all of them.

6. Benjamin Franklin Alexander; b. bet. 1849-1850. On the 17 Oct 1850, District 79, Tattnall Co., GA census, he is listed as Benjamin, son, age 1; on the 05 Aug 1860 census, Reidsville, Tattnall Co., GA, listed as Benjamin F., son, age 10; and on the 17 Jun 1870 Reidsville, Tattnall Co., GA census, he is listed as Franklin, son, age 19, farm laborer.

7. George Ann Alexander, b. 1852. Listed on the Reidsville, Tattnall Co., GA census for 05 Aug 1860, listed as daughter, George Ann, age 8.

8. Elizabeth Alexander, b. 1855. On the 05 Aug 1860 Census, for Reidsville, Tattnall Co., GA, she is listed as Elizabeth, daughter, age 5; on 17 Jun 1870 for Reidsville, Tattnall Co., GA, she is listed as Elizabeth, daughter, age 14, at school; and on the 22 Jun 1880 Tattnall Co., GA census, she is listed as Elizabeth, daughter, age 21, single.

9. Charles J. Alexander; b. Oct 1857; Married a Maggie C., b. 1865. Note: In the Old Tippins Cemetery, Reidsville, Tattnall Co., GA listing in the Tattnall County Cemetery Book, page 389, I believe the C. J. Alexander, b. 1861; d. 1923 and the entry for Maggie C. Alexander, b. 1865 and d. 1921 are these two people.

10. Lawton Alexander, b. 1859; listed in the 05 Aug 1860 census for Reidsville, Tattnall Co., GA, as Lawton, son, age 1.

11. Josiah Alexander, b. 1866; for 17 Jun 1870 census for Reidsville, Tattnall Co., GA, he is listed as Josiah, son, age 4, at home.

There are many ways and documents to prove her headstone lists 1818 as D O B. I have many census documents that will show her age and children's ages. For ex: Tattnall Co., GA, district 79, listed as Mary, wife, age 33 in 1850. And a later one Mary Alexander, listed as widowed mother, age 83, b. 1817, Tattnall Co., GA living with her son, Charles.
