Son of William "Blind Henry" Bunn (1793-1875) and Elizabeth Smith Bunn (1805-1835).

He married Mary Lowe, 1830-1850, on September 30, 1849 in Morgan County, Alabama. They had one daughter, Mary Susan Elizabeth "Lizzie" Bunn, 1850-1935. Mary died soon after her daughter's birth.

He married his second wife Mary Ann Street, 1823-1919, on November 2, 1854 in Lincoln County, Tennessee. They had six children together.

He enlisted June 15, 1861 in the First Tennessee Artillery and, according to his widow's pension application, he served nine months. Mary filed the pension application in 1906 at age 83 and is probably wrong about the nine months of service. She even answered, under oath, that he died in 1895 instead of the correct year of 1905, just the year before. Records indicate that he was captured in 1864.

My grandmother Ida Lee Roberts Lockett, 1885-1976, was the granddaughter of William Bunn and Mary Ann Street. In 1975 Ida gave me this photo of them taken in Nolanville, Bell County, Texas the year before she died in 1976 at age 91. I wrote down everything she told me about them and many others.
