ROCKDALE — Services for Thelma Adams, 87, of Palestine and formerly of Rockdale, will be 11 a.m. Saturday in Eutaw Cemetery in Kosse.
Mrs. Adams died Tuesday, Dec. 14, in a Palestine nursing home.
She was born on Sept. 7, 1923, to Thomas Allan and Frances Viola Morgan Barber in Kosse. She retired as a bookkeeper for the Bob Smith Corp., a welding supply business in Houston. She had lived in Palestine for the past 10 years, having moved from Rockdale and Houston. She attended Meadowbrook Baptist Church while in Rockdale. She was preceded in death by her first husband, William B. Swift on Nov. 22, 1969, and her second husband, James G. Adams, on Nov. 14, 1979; and a son, Aaron Leon Swift on March 10, 1972.
Survivors include two sons, Wiley Swift of Palestine and Kenneth Swift of Cypress; a daughter, Sharon Bishop of Willis; four brothers, Gene Barber of Caldwell, Aubrey Barber of Harrisburg, Penn., Harold Barber of Round Rock and Royce Barber of Rockdale; two sisters, Mae Beth Young of Hearne and Mary Spitzenberger of Georgetown; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Visitation is 1-8 p.m. Friday at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Rockdale
