ED MATTSON SERVICES TO BE HELD SATURDAY

Edward Mattson, lifelong resident of Klickitat county, passed away suddenly at his home in Goldendale May 12, 1970.

He had just climbed into his automobile to back out of the driveway Tuesday morning when he apparently had a heart attack and was gone instantly.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 16, 2 p.m. at the Knosher Funeral Home with the Rev. Don E. McCauley officiating.

Surviving are his wife Esther and two daughters, Denise Morris and Beverly Wheelhouse of Roosevelt.

The family suggest in lieu of flowers that donations may be given to the heart fund. An obituary appears elsewhere.

AUGUST EDWARD MATTSON

August Edward Mattson was born in Centerville, WA., August 23, 1899 and passed away suddenly at his home in Goldendale May 12, 1970. Edward was the first in a family of ten children born in to John and Mary Mattson. He was baptized a Lutheran.

On September 3, 1924 he was married to Grace Davenport at Centerville and two daughters were born to this union. Grace passed away in 1959.

He married Esther Erickson October 10, 1960 at Vancouver.

As a young boy in Centerville he ran a steam engine, had worked with the highway departments and then started farming in the Sundale area where he lived until 1963 when he and Esther moved to Goldendale. He was still engaged in the ranching business in the Sundale-Roosevelt and Centerville areas.

Surviving him are Esther, his wife; daughters, Denise Morris and Beverly Wheelhouse both of Sundale; one sister, Hazel Taylor of Goldendale; five brothers, Chester of Seaview, Otis and Raymond of Centerville, Ivan of Portland and Maurice of the Astoria, OR., ten grandchildren, Richard and Russell Wheelhouse, Gary, Keith, Jacquelynn, Elizabeth, David, William, Terry and Laura Morris all at home except for Keith who is stationed in Vietnam with the Air Force.

Services will be at the Knosher Funeral Home with the Rev. Don E. McCauley officiating.

Active pallbearers are A.C. Goddard, William Doughty, Roscoe Imrie, Leslie Kelly, Horace Allen White and Victor George. Honorary pallbearers are Clarence Austin, Byron Copenhefer, Stanley Crocker, J.E. Fuhrman, Robert Schilling and Frank Tallman. Interment will be in the IOOF cemetery at Goldendale.
