Joshua and Kristen Miller

They would have celebrated five months of marriage on Friday.

"They had all those hopes and things before them," said Joshua Miller's father, Ralph Miller, pastor of the church. "The tragedy of it all is so profound that we just believe that God has taken something that's very precious to a lot of people to impact them and say, 'Tomorrow comes and it may be different for you, also.'"

Josh Miller's sister, Nicky, 18, said her brother and sister-in-law were the "All-American couple."

"They were two peas in a pod," she said.

The couple met at the Indianapolis Bible college several years ago. While Josh graduated a year earlier than Kristen, they managed to maintain a long-distance relationship.

"She was either here or he was there every weekend," Nicky Miller said. "They made it work."

They married June 26 and settled into life in Normalville. Josh Miller worked at Scott Electric in Greensburg. Kristen Miller found a job at Learning Leap Child Care Center in Berlin, Somerset County.

They were passionate about the church and working with young people.

"(Josh) had just started preaching in our church once in a while for our dad," Nicky Miller said. "The whole ministry was his life. That was what he lived for and what Kristen lived for."

Kristen Miller loved working with the toddlers at Sunday School, and helped lead the music ministry.

"She had a beautiful voice," Nicky Miller said. "She could sing like no other."

Ralph Miller said he and his children, including oldest son Luke, have had to work through many losses during the past few years. Miller's wife died in 2005, and his mother passed away six months later.

"It's different every time," he said of the grieving process. "With a son and a brother, it's the realization of my son (Luke) that his children won't get to know his best friend."

Ralph Miller said he will remember most how giving his son and daughter-in-law were.

"They were both flawless in our eyes and other peoples' eyes," he said. "They really lived an irreproachable life."
