William F. Lindsey (November 26, 1828 – December 7, 1872). Sheriff Lindsey served as Hays County Sheriff from March 9, 1857 to June 5, 1858. Sheriff Lindsey was born in Georgia, and moved to Texas around 1836 with his family. Sheriff Lindsey's father was Colonel William L. Lindsey who served in the Texas Revolution, and later surveyed and laid out the city of San Marcos. Sheriff Lindsey worked in farming, real estate, and surveying before and after serving as sheriff. Sheriff Lindsey served in the Confederate Army during the American Civil War in McCord's Frontier Regiment of the Texas Cavalry.

Sheriff Lindsey passed away December 7, 1872, and was interred in the San Marcos City Cemetery in San Marcos, Hays County, Texas.
