Bernice Helen Armstrong was born to Samuel Arthur Armstrong (1870-1929) and Abigail Adeline Clonts (1873-1924) in Chickasha, Oklahoma on August 9, 1913. She married Hershel Graydon Pittman in 1939 in Fayetteville, Arkansas. To this union was born one daughter, Pamela Lee Pittman (1951-2008), on November 3, 1951. In her early years, she taught piano in Oklahoma City. After she married, her and her husband were in the entertainment business performing up and down the west coast and in Colorado. They entertained with the USO during WWII. In the 1960's her and her husband retired from entertaining and settled in Arkansas, living in Elkins, Ark, Huntsville, Ark, Berryville, Ark, and Fayetteville, Ark. She worked for many years as secretary to the Business Administration College at the University of Arkansas. Upon her retirement, she moved to be with her daughter in Colorado. Shortly before her death, she and her husband separated. At the time of her death, she left behind her daughter Mrs. Michael (Pamela) Fritchlee, grandson, Samuel Ray Fritchlee, all of Lyons, Colorado and one sister, Dorothy Kirby, of Ardmore, Oklahoma. Her former husband, several brothers and sisters preceded her in death. Funeral services were held at Howe Mortuary in Longmont, Colorado, with burial in Mountain View Cemetery in Longmont, Colorado.
