Ida Alice Blanchard was born July 28, 1860 in Washington County, OR, to her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Isaac Compton. When nine years of age, her parents moved to Steilacoom, WA, where they resided for seven years. Later they moved to Klickitat county near Goldendale. She was baptized into the Church of Christ at the age of 18, being a member since that time. On April 5, 1885 she was united in marriage with James W. Blanchard, who preceded her in death. She passed away April 9, 1942 at the age of 81 years, 8 months, and 12 days. Those left to mourn her passing are 5 children: Ruth M. Weltzin, Clair R. Blanchard and Jessie Blanchard of Maryhill, WA; Carrol E. Blanchard of Goldendale, WA, and Milton Ray Blanchard of Baker, OR. Two brothers James T. Compton of Lomita, CA and Frank S. Compton of Wenatchee, WA, also a number of other relatives and friends. At the time of her passing she was living on the old home place near Maryhill, where she had resided more than 51 years. Interment was in the I.O.O.F. cemetery, Sunday, April 12.

"Mother! Mother! How we loved you with your hair of snowy white. Your prayers were ever with us when we lay down at night. Mother! Mother! How we loved you for you made our pathway bright. We won't forget that loving touch, those arms around us tight. A smile so sweet and tender like a glimpse of heavenly light."
