Gloria Rae Andersen the daughter of Elmer and Lillian (Kirkhoff) Shuck was born July 11, 1934 at Ong, Nebraska. She departed this life on Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at her home in Ong, Nebraska after a long battle with kidney disease at the age of 76 years, 3 months and 15 days.

Gloria grew up on the family farm outside of Edgar, NE where she attended Prairie View Elementary School and graduated from Edgar High School with the class of 1952.

Gloria worked as a waitress at the Edgar Cafe. She worked part time during high school and full time after graduation. This is where Gloria met the man of her dreams and on June 7, 1953 Gene Andersen and Gloria were united in marriage at the Edgar United Methodist Church.

To this union four children were born two sons and two daughters. Gloria was an active member of the Ong United Methodist Church and served many different capacities with the Methodist womens organizatioins. Gloria was a member of the Ong Volunteer Fire Department for several years holding the office of secretary/treasurer for most of that time.

Gloria was a stay at home wife for most of her life, however she was never afraid to help with any venture handed to her. Gloria enjoyed working in her gardens, but enjoyed tending her flowers most of all. Gloria was an accomplished cook and enjoyed cooking meals for her family and friends, but nothing brought her more joy than her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, son Bryan, infant sister Leah, brothers Bob, Wendell, Ronald Lee, Gordy and Jimmy (Elmer E.) and a grandson Dana.

Survivors include her husband Gene of Ong, NE;
daughter-in-law Rebecca Andersen; son John Andersen and Zoey Miller Andersen of Lincoln, NE: daughters Crystal Andersen and Steve Essman of Lincoln, NE and Vickie Schoenholz and husband Kevin of Bruning, NE; brother Jerry Shuck of Edgar, NE; grandchildren Nicole and Mark Clouse, Kelly and Chantel Andersen, Brent and Jody Andersen, Amy and Mark Cissell, Shannon and Jim Collier, Ben and Nicole Schoenholz, Sara Andersen, Katarina and Lillyane Miller-Andersen;
great-grandchildren Gracie, Emma, Oliva, Brayden, Bryce Andersen, Collin Schoenholz and Erin Cissell; nieces, nephews other relatives and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held this Saturday 10:00 AM, October 30, 2010 at the Ong Methodist Church. Pastor Dorothy Aspergren will be officiating. Burial will be held at the Ong Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 10 am to 8 pm with the family present to greet friends from 6:30 to 7:30 PM. Williams Funeral Home of Edgar NE is in charge of the arrangements.
