She was born at Holdrege, Neb., where she grew up and attended school. Following her graduation from high school, she married William R. Fear on Sept. 25, 1936, at Smith Center, Kan. In 1941, they moved to Grand Rapids from Wallace, Neb. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Grand Rapids, and the Friendly Neighbors Extension Club of Blackberry Township. She also organized the Itasca Rabbit Breeders Association.
She is survived by her husband, William; four daughters, Lela Clements, Merlin, Ore., Monetta Thibodeau, Cohasset, and Winona Mattfield and Sherri Nelson, both of Grand Rapids; a son, Duane, Bemidji; a brother, Calvin Darnell, Grand Rapids; 21 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her parents, Guyda and Lester Darnell, a son, William, and a grandson, Kim Mattfield.
Funeral: Tuesday, Dec. 30, at 1 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. Rick Stapleton officiating.
Burial: Hazelwood Cemetery, Blackberry Township.
