George was married to the late Edna Ruth Anderson who preceeded him in death on Feb 07, 1986. He had two children; Jamie Henry, & Jorge Wheeler. He had two step-daughters Julie and Joy Ellis. He remarried Tonya Lee Cathey and they had no children together.

February 2, 2007 Cumberland WWII Navy Veteran. Mercifully called home to his Lord on February 2, 2007. He leaves behind wife, Lee; daughters, Julie and Joy; sons, Jamie and Jorge; brother, Jerry; friends, Jim Simmons and Arnold Marks. He never held a grudge, and was never mean or unkind to anyone, anytime. For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world and lose his soul? Visitation will be Wednesday, 2-7 p.m. and Thursday, 12 p.m. until services, which will be at 230 p.m., in the Eastland Chapel. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
