Winfred H. "Pete" Adams, 72, of Holton, KS passed away Saturday, September 25, 2010 in Holton.
He was born November 1, 1937 in Riverbank, California the son of Winfred M. and Blanche (Menteer) Adams.
Pete graduated from Thomas Downey High School in Modesto, California and later attended Modesto Junior College. He proudly served his country with the United States Navy and was the reunion coordinator for the USS Walter B. Cobb.
On November 1, 1970 he married Kristi Moore in Modesto, California. She survives.
He was a firefighter in Modesto, California and worked for 30 years with the Modesto City Fire Department. Five years ago he and his wife moved to Kansas to make their home in Holton.
He is survived by his wife, Kristi of the home; his sons, Winfred H. Adams, Jr. and his wife Carla of Palmdale, CA and Dr. Peter J. Adams and his wife Doreen of Sacramento, CA; his sister-in-law, Kimberly A. Duke of Modesto, CA; and his grandchildren, Christopher, Sara, Amanda, Robert, Rose and Grace Adams.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Althea Hammett and June Saylor.
Graveside funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 29, 2010 at Holton City Cemetery with the Rev. Dennis Matthews officiating. There will be no formal visitation. Memorials are suggested to The Make-A-Wish Foundation and contributions may be left in care of Mercer Funeral Home, P.O. Box 270, Holton 66436.
