Owensboro, Kentucky 22 Jul 1918, Mon • Page 1 Former State Senator Dies Of Paralysis Hon. Henry G. Overstreet Passes Away at His Country Home Senator Henry G. Overstreet died at his home, known as the Lily Meade Stock farm, five miles west of Owensboro 12:45 o'clock this afternoon following an illness of three weeks. Senator Overstreet has been in frail health for several years, and some weeks ago suffered a stroke of paralysis that finally proved to be fatal. Senator Overstreet was 68 years of age, and was well known in Owensboro and many sections of Kentucky. He served one term in the lower house of the legislature, and two terms in the senate from the districts composed of the counties of Daviess and McLean. The funeral arrangements have not been completed. Senator Overstreet is survived by his wife and children, William Overstreet and Mrs. Edward Booth and Mrs. Richard Morris, of Evansville, all of whom have been at the bedside of their father for the fast several days. Overstreet, who died at his country home west of Owensboro on Monday afternoon will be conducted from the family residence at 9 o'clock Wednesday morning, the services being conducted by Rev. Lamkin, pastor of the Sorgho Methodist church of which Mr. Overstreet was a member. The burial will be at St. Joseph's cemetery. The active pallbearers will be Josh T. Griffith, Urey Woodson, Clint Griffith, Gates Young, Hugh Herr and Robert G. Higdon. Honorary pallbearers - Judge W. E. Settle, of Frankfort; Hon. William Howell, of Hopkinsville; Captain W. T. Ellis, Dr. S. S. Watkins Judge W. W. Owen and Walter Hayden. Mr. Overstreet was a native of McLean county, being born July 17, 1850. He was married to Miss Mary Hellen Clark, of St. Joseph. From this marriage there are three children two daughters and one son, all now married - Mrs. Edward Booth, Mrs. Richard Morris and William E. Overstreet. In 1883 his wife died. A year after that he married his wife's sister, Miss Ella Clark. From this union three children were born, all of whom died early in life. Most of his life was spent in farming and coal mine operation.
