John Andrew Davis, 88, went home to his heavenly Father on Tuesday, Sept. 7, 2010. Funeral: 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Moore Funeral Home in Arlington. Burial: Moore Memorial Gardens Mausoleum I. John Andrew Davis was born Nov. 7, 1921, in Many, La., to Louis Francis and Leattie Eugenia Davis. He served his country proudly in World War II. He served in the Pacific theater in the United States Army. After the war he graduated from Northwestern University with a degree in engineering. He later spent over 40 years in the aircraft industry and retired from Bell Helicopter after 30 years of service. Along with his wife of 55 years, Dee Davis, he reared his grandchildren Rodney and Becky and then his adopted child Jonathan. He always went above and beyond to do the right thing. He loved his country and his family. John was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Joy Lafitte and Peggy Boswell. Survivors: His wife, Dee Davis of Arlington; son, Jonathan Davis of Fort Worth; stepdaughter, Shirley Hill of Garland; grandson, Rodney Tidwell of Mineral Wells; granddaughters, Becky Gilcrease of Arlington and Karen Davis of McKinney; brother, Francis Davis of Freeport; sister, Louise DeValcourt of Lafayette, La.; and many loving nieces and nephews.
