Mrs. Hawkins passed away Thursday, Aug. 26, 2010, in Frederick.

Wilma was born to Jasper and Anna Carpenter Gober on March 7, 1918, in Isadore, near Hollister. She graduated from Hollister School. She married Ray Hawkins on May 18, 1935. Wilma helped Ray in various businesses through the years and also worked at TG&Y and Perkins. Her days were spent sewing, gardening, canning and reading the Bible, but, most of all, she loved spending time with her family. She was a wonderful mother and the greatest MeMaw to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She spent many hours in the kitchen making wonderful holiday meals for the entire family. She was a member of First Christian Church. Wilma loved the Lord and loved going to church. She was a member of the Explorer's Sunday School class, Rose Garden Club and a fifty-year member of the Black Katz.

She is survived by two daughters: Barbara Redmond, of Marlow; and Carolyn Cupp and husband, Jerry, of Tipton; three grandchildren: Dave Redmond and wife, Ava, Greenville, Texas; Robby Cupp, of Frederick; and Traci Balderas and husband, Michael, of Tipton; and six great-grandchildren: Heath, Joel and Kenny Redmond, and Mikayla, Brittany and Jacob Balderas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray Hawkins; and a beloved brother, James Gober and his wife, Pauline.

Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, 500 N. 15th, Frederick 73542 or to the Frederick Arts & Humanities Council, 114 S. 9th, Frederick 73542, in loving memory of Wilma Hawkins.
