SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Douglas Charles Nadeau, Sr., 77, of Spring-field, passed away on Tuesday, May 27, 2008, in Mercy Medical Center. Born in Springfield and a life long resident, he was the son of the late Arthur and Anna (Eaton) Nadeau. Douglas was a retired driver and supervisor for the former Ward Baking Co., Tip Top Bakery of Springfield. Following his retirement there, he also worked for Mass Mutual as a mail driver. Douglas was a communicant of the former St. Joseph's Church of Springfield. He loved baseball and his trips to the casinos. Douglas had also served his country in the Army during peacetime. He is survived by his wife of (53) years, Joanne C. (Adams) Nadeau; his (5) children, Douglas C. Nadeau, Jr., and his wife Marlene of Springfield; Michael F. Nadeau of Ludlow; Scott A. Nadeau of Springfield; Cheryl Ann Nadeau of Chicopee, Anne M. Nadeau of Springfield; his (2) sisters; Rita Verrier of Ludlow, Irene Riendeau of Springfield; (14) grandchildren and (6) great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Douglas will be held on Saturday, May 31, 2008 at the Ratell Funeral Home 200 Main St., Indian Orchard at 7 p.m. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be held on Saturday at the funeral home from 4 to 7 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701 or to a charity of choice.
