He worked at Interlake Iron prior to World War II. He was a first sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the Central Europe and Rhineland campaigns. He moved to Erie in 1968, eventually retired from Hammermill Paper Co. He sang lead and played country music with several different bands. He helped with benefits for the Dr. Gertrude A. Barber Center and the Brookside Fire Department.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Lela Mullins and Mary Petit.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Elizabeth "Betty" Dunford Vincent; three sons, B. Lee Vincent and his wife, Cathy, of Erie, Gerald E. Vincent and his wife, Eileen, of Sacramento, Calif., and William A. Vincent and his wife, Kelly, of Girard; two daughters, Shirley Jovanovich and her husband, Milan, of Erie and Susan L. Gorelikow and her husband, Alex, of Pensecola, Fla; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; a brother, Roy Vincent of Mill Village; two sisters, Lucille Reynolds, of St. Mary, West Va., and Minnie Hart, of Winchester, Va.; several nieces and nephews.
Interment will be at Erie County Memorial Gardens.
