Section Hand at Rock Island Depot Meets Death at Noon as Backing Train Hits Him
Apparently not seeing the passenger train which was backing into the Rock Island railway station, William T. Straight, a section hand, was killed in the railway yards on East Tenth st. shortly before noon today when the train struck him, throwing him in its path and badly crushing his body. He was on his way to lunch.
The remains were immediately taken to the Lee Miller undertaking parlors, where a coroner's inquest will be held tomorrow.
Straight is said to have a brother here who is working for the city.

Coroner's Jury Exonerates Rock Island Railway From Any Blame for It
That W. T. Straight, employe of the Rock Island, met his death accidentally while crossing the track in the Rock Island yards on Wednesday was the verdict reached by the jury in the coroner's inquest held yesterday, Coroner Lee Miller said this morning.
Funeral Services were held from the Miller Undertaking parlors at 2 o'clock this afternoon. Interment was in Mt. Pleasant cemetery.
On the coroner's jury were J.E. Hickey, Don Donahoe and A.J. Knott.
