Vilottie L. Chapman, born on July 23, 1820, married Bluford Calvin Rose in 1838. Vilottie Rose was part Comanche Indian. Vilottie and Bluford settled in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas and participated in the California gold rush of 1849.

They had nine children; John (1838), Newton C. (1840), James Hillard or Jim (1841), Armilda, (1843)), Ahiga P (Hidge) (1846), Charity (1848), Jesse Jackson or J.J. (1849), Mary Frances (1852), Prudy Ann (1853), Joseph Calvin (1858) and Tempa or Tinnie (1859). These Records show 11 children so two must not have survived.

The Census of 1860 had all living in the same house. However, the Census of 1870 had Bluford and Vilottie living in separate households with two or three of their children living in each household. The younger children were scattered among the various residences. Bluford, like some of his children, changed the spelling of his name between 1860 and 1870. Their burial in the two different cemeteries probably indicates the split in their marriage.

Vilottie L. Rose died on September 11, 1896 and is buried in Sandy Cemetery in Blanco County.Texas.
