Race Car Driver. Born in Belleville, Illinois, he began professional career driving sprint cars on the Daytona 500 circuit in the late 1950s. He started competing in USAC midgets in the early 1960s, then entered into the USAC Championship Car series racing for ten seasons, (1963-72). He had 75 career starts, including five Indianapolis 500 formula one races (1965-69), finishing in the top ten 21 times, with his best finish being in 3rd position twice in 1966. He died of cancer at age 61 in Belleville, Illinois.
