My great-great-grandmother was the daughter of Berry and Penelope Blessing Carter, and the widow of William J. Coulter, who died in 1941. She was survived by children Albert, Luther, John and Lawrence Coulter, Gladys Allen, Alice Mumaw and Mary Taylor, 18 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, sister Katie Rice and brothers Charles, Tilmond and Edward Carter.
She was preceded in death by her sons Clarence in 1915 and Ernest in 1927, and daugthers Annie Fry in 1915 and baby Margaret in 1908.
She was a member of the Brownsville Church of the Brethren. Her and her husband were farmers and lived in a big red farm house later occupied by their youngest child, Lawrence.
Her late daughter Mary wrote this to me about her mother: "She was the best mother in this world, a very kind person. She liked to crochet, was a wonderful cook. She liked to play cards. Listen at stories on the radio. Work on quilts. She loved people. She was a member of the Church of the Brethren."
