Son of the late Mr. and Mrs. George Barrett, of London, England; husband of Maude Barrett, of 470, West William St., Portchester, New York, U.S.A.

George was a British Home Child emigrated to Canada in 1907 with the Dr. Barnardo Homes.

On November 11th 1915, George William Barrett born 8th September 1897 enlisted in the Canadian Army at Hamilton, Ontario, he declared he lived in North Pelham, Ontario, that he was born in Lichfield, Staffordshire. He gave his next of kin as his sister Nellie, Glen Teg, Lichfield Road, Walsall, he stated he was a farmer, he was described as being 5'3 with a ruddy complexion, blue eyes and Auburn hair. He stated he was a presbytarian by religion. He had 1 vaccination scar on left arm, his left little finger was slightly deformed.
