Adoniram Judson Bradley was born on 2 Mar 1827 at Russell, Massachusetts, son of Deacon M. Lyman and Dorcas (Braman) Bradley.

On 16 Aug 1848 Adoniram J. Bradley, 21, married Clarissa Marilla Bishop, 18, daughter of James and Clarissa (Holmes) Bishop, at Russell, Massachusetts.

In 1861 he was living in Russell, Massachusetts and gave his occupation as farmer.

On 16 Oct 1861 Adoniram mustered into service with the 15th Massachusetts Volunteer Infantry, being credited to the quota of Russell, Massachusetts. He was 34 years, 7 months and 14 days old.

On 21 May 1862 he was promoted to 2nd Lieutenant. On 17 Sep 1862 he was wounded at The Battle of Antietam and was promoted to 1st Lieutenant two days later.

On 15 Dec 1862 he was wounded in the face and the following month on 22 Jan 1863 promoted to Captain. He mustered in that rank 1 March 1863.

On 21 Nov 1863 Adoniram ended military service with the 15th Massachusetts by resignation.
